Tata Indica V2 Xeta
Vehicle Detail
Tata Motors Limited one of the primary players in the passenger car segment, launched Indica in December 1998. Within a week of its launch it crossed one lakh bookings and rose up to be the number one car in the passenger category. Though touted as an indigenous car, the outer body was designed by an Italian automobile design house I.DE.A (Institute of Development in Automobile Engineering). Initial customer feedback on mileage and efficiency aspects led to re-engineered versions of Indica in the form of Indica V1 and later Indica V2. Though the diesel version of Indica was widely popular, the petrol version – Indica Petrol V2 MPFI wasn’t a success. Tata Motors wanted to relinquish the image of a diesel carmaker and launched Indica V2 Xeta in January 2006 as an effort to firmly establish its brand in the customers mind as a viable petrol option. XETA is the acronym for “eXtra fuel Efficiency, Torque Advantage” engine. The company claims that the XETA was launched with a vision of providing the customer fuel efficiency at an affordable price.
