Skoda Laura
Vehicle Detail
True to its promises
Skoda was once a car manufacturing company based in the Chez Republic. In the early 90’s however the company was sold over to Volkswagen and now exists as one of the four subsidiaries of the company. A decade later the parent company decided to unleash the Skoda cars in India. Seeing the rapid growth that the country was experiencing and the wide range of foreign manufacturers that has entered the Indian automobile market Volkswagen also decided to enter the market with its subsidiary; Skoda. The company released a D segment car known as the Skoda Laura in late 2005 as a means to reach out to the wide middle class base that the country has.
This car was designed to be a powerful diesel engine powered machine that was fuel efficient as well. Although the Skoda Laura kept most of the promises that it made the only downside of the car was its high purchasing price. Considering the fact that it is a D segment car the price seems to be a bit too high especially when compared to entries in the segment from other foreign car manufacturers. But there must be something about the Skoda Laura that has kept its popularity growing at a steady pace and it is still climbing today.
So what exactly makes this diesel powered car so special that people want to buy it despite the high price at which it is being offered? It’s no Porsche that’s for sure but the patented 1.9 Pump Duse technology engine can give you quite a powerful performance. The engine is configured in a way so as to make the car very fuel efficient and reduce the emissions from the car which makes it more environment friendly.
The car also has a direct shift gearbox that works with two clutches. It has a triptonic function that gives the driver the freedom to choose his gears manually. Maneuvering the Skoda Laura around the streets of India is child’s play. This is largely due to the rack and pinion steering which gets a boost of electromechanical assistance. When it comes to the interiors the Skoda Laura will not let you down that’s for sure. It is amongst the best looking cars from the inside within its category. Things like the rich leather upholstery give it class and comfort at the same time. The car also comes with a factory fitted air conditioning system that can keep you cool in the summers and warm in the winters. This spacious and intelligent car is steadily climbing its way up to full fledge commercial success.
