Vehicle Detail

The all new Chevrolet Cruze which was launched in the European market in March 2009 as the 2010 model, is one vehicle that the entire General Motors is pinning its hope on. The success of the vehicle is very important for the manufacturer which is faced with a daunting task of keeping afloat as a result of the current economic meltdown world wide.

The Chevrolet Cruze which will be a 2011 model is being slated for a mid 2010 launch in the US market and the company hopes to revive their fortunes with this compact car. With the Chevrolet Cruze, General Motors is making a renewed attempt to cater to the compact car segment in the auto market as the earlier better margins paying segments like the SUV’s and the pickups are no longer working out to be lucrative, either for the manufacturer or for the customer.

The Chevrolet Cruze has been designed keeping the global perspective in mind and infact has been designed by one of General Motors global architecture and design team. The basic idea behind the compact car has been to cater to different market conditions around the world. The Chevrolet Cruze is being touted as the possible replacement vehicle for the Chevrolet Cobalt, which again has been catering to the customers in the compact car segment. The things that are being touted as going in favor of the Chevrolet Cruze have been ability to accommodate 5 adults comfortably, plush interiors, humongous boot or storage space, when compared with the other competing alternatives.

The Chevrolet Cruze is believed to be launched with two engine options for the customers. It is expected to sport a 1.4 ltr turbo charged engine with either a 6 speed manual or automatic transmission or a 2.0 ltr turbo charged 4 cylinder engine. There is still some doubt about the possibility of the later spec engine but the other one is more or less confirmed. The Chevrolet Cruze although being considered or being planned as a replacement to the Cobalt, will be a notch higher than the Cobalt, with better interiors, comfort and build quality.
