The sleek machine
Bajaj AvengerOne of India’s oldest two wheeler manufacturers is Bajaj Auto limited. The company started operating as an importer in the initial years of its inception in 1945. By 1959 the company started producing two wheelers for the local market. Since the company has grown considerably and now produces a wide range of 2 wheelers and 3 wheelers. The company has kept pace with technological developments that have taken place in the world and the change in the style sense of the masses. This progressive spirit of the company can be seen in the Bajaj Avenger which happens to be India’s very first cruiser.

The Bajaj Avenger was developed along the lines of the Yamaha Enticer and Kawasaki Eliminator. These are world class motorbikes that the Bajaj Avenger bears likeliness to. The success of the Bajaj Avenger can be credited to its high quality engineering and its ability to deliver. The looks of this cruiser have also attracted a lot of two wheel lovers because this bike is something that will make you stand out in the crowd. Moreover you can zip through the heavy traffic on your Bajaj Avenger and get to where you want to be much faster than usual.

Since there has been a considerable amount of improvement in the fields of mass communication the company has gone all out to market the Bajaj Avenger through all possible means. There was a time when no commercial break on the TV would go without an advert of the bike. Similarly posters and banners could be seen on the streets and full page press and magazine ads were also utilized for the purpose. With the result that the Bajaj Avenger became a hugely popular bike in India.

The bike has been aided with an advanced technological specification known as the DTS-I technology. Since Bajaj Auto is a local company it is well aware of the typography of India. Hence they have developed the Avenger with special features that suit its environment. Rest assured you will have no trouble taking on the Indian roads whether they are the well developed highways or the underdeveloped muddy ways. To add to the quality performance you have the slow slung body of the Bajaj Avenger that gives it a sleek look. The chrome texture makes the bike shine in the day light making it a hard to miss 2 wheeler. Although this is a locally manufactured bike the drive is second to none.

    Bajaj Avenger Resale Value

    Hi Everyone,

First of all, great bike. I am writing about the resale value of Avenger. This piece of information is for everyone out there opting for a second hand Bajaj Avenger.

Every advertisement that I have come across in the internet about Avenger have ridiculous price tags on them. The resellers think that if they post an ad on the net, they are bound to attract a naive buyer who does not know Avenger’s resale value.

    Here are some basic facts:-
    1. Avenger is an awesome bike. But, it does not have a good resale value. That is because middle class daily commuters do not opt for cruisers. Thats the reason you dont see a 40 year old dropping off his daughter to school on an avenger – looks odd…..doesnt it?
    2. A person willing to buy an avenger is wealthy enough to buy it first hand. So, a price tag of around 60K is riduculous…..I mean, what kind of a fool would not want to buy the bike first hand for just 10K more?
    3. A second hand Bajaj Avenger’s resale value is around 35K to 40K plus or minus 5K depending on the condition of the bike and kms it has run.

I have a friend who had put up his red Avenger for sale. It had run 13000 kms giving a decent mileage of 35 kms/litre. He was greedy enough to put a price tag of 48K on it. I have to say, the common man is not so stupid after all. After around 4 months, he had to sell it for 39K.

Please be careful while buying. I have come across two fraudsters while wanting to buy one (I am not going to give you the exact details on them as this post might get removed if I do) :-

I came across an ad recently. “Avenger with stylish windshield for sale”. Reason for selling: Going abroad for long term. 17000 Kms run. Regularly serviced at Castrol Bike zone. Price: 50K. I went to see the bike with a mechanic. Just by hearing the sound of the engine and looking at the back wheel, he could say that the bike had run atleast 40000 kms. On further enquiry, I learnt that he s been saying that he is going abroad since 6 months desperately trying to cash in some profit.

Another ad went like this. Red Bajaj Avenger, 2005 model. Just 3000 kms run. Now, thats hard to believe. 4 years and just 3000 kms? was it locked in a showroom?

    A message to the buyers:-
    1. Please examine the bike thoroughly before buying.
    2. Let a mechanic have a look at it before you buy. He ll see things that you generally would never notice.
    3. Ask as to why he is selling the bike.
    4. Dont pay hefty sums. Note that a second hand Avenger is not worth more than 45K.
    5. Many of the resellers who stick to their ridiculous price tags keep posting the ads again and again hoping to catch a big fool. If you search for the resellers contact number, you will find many previous ads posted for the same bike.
    6. In short, if you are paying more than 45K, you are being cheated.

    A message to the resellers:-
    1. Please be reasonable while putting up a price tag. I know that you would have bought it for a hefty sum. You should ve thought about its resale value before you bought it.
    2. I know that a lot of them have put up tags of 50K, 55K, 60K and even 68K….ha ha 5K more and you get a brand new Avenger of your choice. Believe me, you really wont find such extremely foolish buyers.

Hope this information helped. See you.

    HI Amit
I just got a used Avy 200 which has clocked only 11000 kms. its a april 2008 model and the condition of the tyres convinced me about the genuiness of the mileage.. its fun to ride this bike but today morning I noticed a strange kind of wobbling….as if the bike was throwing itself around left and right and I had to steady it with the steering handle… i checked but the tyre pressure seems to be Ok…what could be the possible reasons ?
